Lorong Selamat

To relax myself for the coming school exam which is on the day after tomorrow, I gonna bring you to Lorong Selamat in Penang for nice Ice Kacang and Hokkien Prawn Mee. As I said, the Kopitiam(coffee house in local dialect) is located at Lorong Selamat (Selamat Lane). The Kopitiam got no name.

HOKKIEN MEE

[image] Hokkien Prawn Mee. In other states, they call it Penang Prawn Mee (槟城虾面)

Hokkien Prawn Mee. Locals call it HOK-KIEN MEE. This one is nice, one of my favourite street/hawker food. The soup is a bit spicy, with prawn taste. When you ordered one bowl, inside will consist of noodles, prawns, boiled egg, vegetable (some place got put, some don't), and meat. The Hokkien Prawn Mee at this Kopitiam is delicious. Recommend it.

Note : In Penang got 2 types of Hokkien Mee, 1 is Hokkien Mee which is soup based and the other one is Hokkien Char Mee which is friend noodles in Hokkien style.

Ice Kacang is a kind of dessert very famous here. It is shaved ice with syrup, red beans, leong fern (Grass Jelly), ice cream and sometime with banana or other fruits.

The Ice Kacang here is nice too as this place is also famous for its Ice Kacang. But at Swattow Lane, the Ice Kacang there have more topping (with fruits and other jelly).

Lastly, the last thing my dad ordered is this Char Kuey Teow ("Fried Flat Noodles"). Char Kuey Teow is one of Penang must eat local food. It's a popular noodle dish here in Penang and fried with black soya sauce, bean sprouts, prawn and sometimes squid and duck eggs are added for better taste. One thing I want to tell you that it's very oily due to its fat content. But you come Penang, cannot don't want eat this dish, lor.

Char Kuey Teow at Pulau Tikus Market is better than Lorong Selamat.
