Manhattan Fish Market

Yo, yesterday I went to Manhattan Fish Market at Queensbay Mall to try out. Yesterday was my first time and that outlet is the one and only in Penang. Before Manhattan Fish Market opens in Queensbay, I always go to Fish and Co. to eat.

It is located at the concourse area. My friends ordered Seafood Platter for 2, Catch of the Day (Dory Fish), Fish and Chips and I ordered Salmon.

Flaming on the fish to grill it. I don't know why they do that for. I don't see it at Fish and Co.

Here you go for the Seafood Platter for 2, RM4x.00

Then this is the cheapest meal of all, the Fish and Chips. To me I think it lose to Fish and Co, the portion is small, and not as crispier as the Fish and Chips at Fish and Co.

The Catch of the Day, yesterday was Dory Fish and according to my friend it was not bad, I guess really not bad, HAHAHA

Lastly, here is my Salmon set. The Salmon was kinda small, but after eating everything includes fries, I am full. YUMMY.

So to me I still prefer Fish and Co., yet the Seafood Platter can fight, next time I go Fish and Co. to test their Seafood Platter then I'll tell which is the best. =]

Siu Long Bao At Queensbay

Not Dragon-i in Queensbay Mall. It's outside the shop lot there at Queensbay. The shop name is call House of Dumpling. Siu Long Bao is a kind of dumpling that is origin from Shanghai, China. There is soup (some say juices) in it with meat. You bite a little of the top and then you like suck out the soup or, tear into half on a spoon and you drink it.

Dip the Siu Long Bao with some vinegar and put some ginger on it, it will then taste very delicious and nice. The Siu Long Bao here not bad. The last time I had a Siu Long Bao was like last year at Cititel, Mid Valley there.

Besides Siu Long Bao, we ordered the Fish Ball Soup. Kinda nice too, I like the soup.

We got this vegetables with oyster soya sauce. First food to served that time. Cause very hungry, I ate almost half of the portion.

This is Spring Onion Lar Mian (Ramen). Add some peanut butter and it taste different.

However, I like this Bak Chor Ramen more than the Spring Onion Ramen because this have meat and that Spring Onion Ramen don't! Haha.

Lastly, we got this so call Mouse Bao. Nice!

Fish Head Bee Hoon near Jalan Jelutong

Last Saturday, I and papa and mama go to Jeletong there to eat this fish head bee hoon (rice noodle). According to my mom, she say there very famous one and need to wait for some times. It's near Jalan Jelutong and Perak Lane. Not so sure, but as far as i know it's near Jalan Jelutong.

Indeed, the fish head bee hoon is very nice. We ordered 2 version, 1 is bee hoon another is moi (porridge). Then dad ordered the crab. He say not always get to order the crab.

I feel the best is not the bee hoon but is the crab. I like the soup very much. Nice! Go try it now!

I locate myself there. Haha.

New Lane eat Fish Head Bee Hoon and Hokkien Mee

Do you know New Lane got very nice Fish Head Bee Hoon (rice noodle)? It's at the Kopitiam there. My dad's friend say that the one beside the small plaza one is better, but need to wait very long. We eat finish already, the food only come. But still the same one I think. The Fish Head and Fish Fillet Bee Hoon is nice.

Besides ordering the Bee Hoon (rice noodles), I ordered one of my favourite Penang food which is the Hokkien Prawn Mee. So so only, still can eat. I like the one at Tanjong Tokong one. You can give it a try, maybe I am wrong. HAHA

Go New Lane now ! =]

Roasted Chicken At Food Loft

Last Saturday I went to the bloggers gathering - The Orient Voices at Food Loft. This event was sponsored by Food Loft, Nuffnang and Exabyte. So, we bloggers were able to eat free.

We were given an order card with RM15 credit in it and we are free to order anything. In total as long as it do not exceed RM15, we do not need to pay. If you lost the card, you need to pay RM100.

I once visited Food Loft last year during my birthday. I last time ordered the steak, but it wasn't nice. This time I ordered a American Quarter Roasted Chicken which is RM14.90. Didn't exceed the amount lo.

But guess what, when check out that time, I still need to pay additional RM1.40 for the service tax and government tax. =(

The roasted chicken was nice. Like it. Quarter roasted chicken, rice, fries and some little salad.

Food Loft is at 4th floor of Gurney Plaza.

Nice Western Food at Fettes Park

Anybody live near Fettes Park? Live far also nevermind, you can always drive yourself there. The western food there is not very expensive. You know the Fatty Loh Chicken Rice at Fettes Park? The western food is at there, sells only at night.

FYI, if you are from other places, not from Malaysia, this western food here is not same, it's oriental style.

I ordered this Chicken Gorden Blue, which is chicken with cheese and ham inside. Nice! I like this, got cheese. RM7.50 only.

Look what is inside?

My mom ordered a Grill Garlic Fish Fillet. Quite nice, but bit too salty. Love the garlic and the fillet.

It's Fruit Season. Durian, Rambutan, Mangosteen

Last Sunday, I went to Teluk Bahang there to eat fruits. Exactly opposite the Butterfly Farm, a small stall selling Rambutans, Durians and Mangosteen. That day was raining, feeling cold.

My dad's friend book the fruit already, so the guy selling it ensure we get to eat, LIVE on the spot. If take home will become not really fresh already.

From Balik Pulau to Teluk Bahang needs at least 20 minutes. That day, it took my dad half and hour because of the rainy weather. I don't know why this few days always rain. Today rain whole morning till afternoon.

Some durian was tasteless, some was nice and sweet. Some durian we ate were very fresh as the seller there said that they picked it up when they drop and straight send to here.

I ate quite lot durians there. Eat until burp burp, and got the durian smell came out of my mouth. XD I wonder what if I burp during the assembly in school hall. HAHA.

Loves it?

Chili's Grill and Bar

Last week I finally have chance to try out at this American food restaurant. Chili's Grill and Bar. I went there with my brother, my dad don't really like western food while my mom was sick.

We went there for dinner.

The restaurant not really big, many people were there. Full House, but there was places at the bar there, since I and my brother went only, so it's Ok.

The Margarita Bar. Inside is very well decorated, get a new feel. Feel like in America's restaurant. Haha.

The food is rather expensive, but still ok because of its nice food and big portion. I ordered Mushroom Jack Combo Fajitas and my brother ordered Quesa Beef. For drinks, since my Mushroom Jack is already RM37.xx, I just ask for sky juice then my brother ordered a Pina Chilada. Sweet!

My sky juice. (:

A Pina Chilada. Slurpppp.

This is my Mushroom Jack Fajitas chicken and beef combo. A bit salty, but it's still cool when you eat with the bread liked thing below. Loves the mushroom and the beef. There is vegetables in it too.

My Mushroom Jack comes with 3 pieces of this Chapati liked thin flat baked dough. Take some beef, chicken, mushroom, and add some salsa sauce, wrap it up with it, YUMMY!

This is my brother's Quesa Beef. Pizza liked food. Tasty, inside got beef, vegetables and cheese. The center white thingy is actually yogurt, but it's tasteless, sucks.

The salsa sauce. If you don't like western food, you definitely don't want to go here because the food is too Western-ish, cheesy. However, I think the original restaurant in the States will be better as I saw the caucasian went away after a few bites, guess the food there not as good as they have in their country. If you are locals and loves western food, you should go try.

Next time want to go try their Burger ^^.

Where is Chili's?
Located ground floor of G-Hotel, at Gurney Place there.

Yummy Ramli Burger

I believe Ramli burger can fight with McDonald's. It's truly made in Malaysia. RM3.50 with eggs, vegetables and beef/chicken. Still got cheaper one without eggs. Some also got cheese, see what you want.

Yummy. You can find it at street stalls here in Penang at night. The above one is at Prima Tanjong, Fettes Park.

Check this out. It's beef. Hungry now? The person take egg and wrap the beef up and put in some sauce, ketchup.

Rambutan !!!

Now not only because Durian season, durian very "hot". Now also Rambutan season.
The Rambutan (IPA: [raˈmbu.t̪ɑn], Nephelium lappaceum) is a medium-sized tropical tree in the family Sapindaceae, probably native to southeast Asia, and the fruit of this tree. It is closely related to several other edible tropical fruits including the Lychee, Longan and Mamoncillo. It is believed to be native to the Malay Archipelago where the name quite literally means 'hairy'. although its precise natural distribution is unknown. In Costa Rica and Nicaragua, it is known as mamón chino. from wikipedia
The Wikipedia version of Rambutan got so many name, but I believe here, we just this local fruit Rambutan in English/Malay, Ang Mor Tan in Hokkien, Hoong Mole Tan in Cantonese while Hoong Maul Tan in Mandarin.

The name :
  • Ang/Hoong - meaning Red colour
  • Mor/Mole/Mau/Rambut - hair
  • Tan - In ancient Chinese, their medical pill is a small ball. This small ball was call Tan 丹。
This fruit is kinda popular here in Malaysia and you can plant it in your compound too as the weather and climate here is very suitable for Rambutan planting.

I don't eat rambutan much because I just lazy to tear open and eat its flesh. You can't eat the whole thing, because you may accidentally swallow the seeds which is quite big. If someone want to tear for me, then hehehe, sure will eat all.

Sometimes, people will add rambutan flesh into desser like Si Kuey Th'ng. You only can eat the rambutan when it's turn bright red which mean it has riped.

Take a bite at the flesh or take out the seed. It taste sweet.

See? It's hairy ^^. Above pictures and rambutan were taken from my grandma's rambutan tree :). Cool eh? Free Rambutan.
